Michele Savino was born in Bergamo (Italy) in 1989. He writes, paints, and cultivates bonsai.

Michele Savino’s artistic research has progressively focused on the concept of the image as a pictorial artifact. The artist uses painting to consume and corrode the image, attempting to act upon it as time has acted upon artifacts over the centuries. The images that arise from this particular process of temporal alchemy manifest as ectoplasmic fragments, ancestral residues of images whose references are lost within an indefinite figuration, but never properly abstract.

To the extent that the archaic object, having survived its alteration, can reach us solely as an object altered by time, the pictorial image also seems to have found its possible form of ultimate survival in an intentional iconographic consumption. Nonetheless, these surviving images present themselves as the extreme residue of an impossible painting, exploring its own iconographic limits in the face of the current frenetic proliferation of images.
